What's that coming over the hill?

Yesterday was Maths Mock exam, and hell; MY CALCULATOR TOTALLY QUIT ON ME. Yea, no batt AT ALL. So how to do, you may ask. Well, just don't do lor. It's only a mock exam; meaning not real. So no point getting all worked up and kicking up a major fuss.Today, to celebrate our school getting a distinction award for sustained value-addedness, the school kinda treated us to breakfast. But you know what? They only gave us like 10 mins to eat cos we had to bloddy rush for geog. WTS.And I so have to reiterate this; IT DOES RAIN WHENEVER THERE'S GEOG. Today had an absolute torrential rainfall. Why was it so heavy? Cos there were not one, not two, but three periods of geog. z.o.m.g. But anyway; MrPoh didn't come today, meaning a free period of PE (of which B.Koh took over) and two free periods of A.Maths (I think her name was MsLoh?). And so, dewaine and I got uber high with my mp3 again. I think desiree, joanna and samantha got very amused by us.By the time it was English, my brain crashed. Didn't do much, and MrsTay said I was down for English tutorial. Sure, according to my paper2, I admit I might need help. But tutorial from her has never proven to be effective. And I'm not being biased here. Why would I anyway? Also, it was she who caused me to throw away 2 marks. Lemme explain how; she said before the prelims that it'd be ok for us to just write "The word is ____" without quotation marks for those "Write a word that means ..." question. And then now she says she did tell us to put in quotation marks. I don't deny that. She did say it, but she said it after prelims. Nice people doesn't necessarily equal good teachers.Speaking of english prelims, I needa rant about this teacher (whom shall not be named) who marked my paper during mids as well as prelims. Mids: She marked my summary, which she failed me cos she said she couldn't find sufficient points (for content marks). Then her comments on my page were "Inadequate vocabulary". Usually the reason for not finding content marks is cos the student rephrases too much and probably changes the exact meaning of it. So shouldn't it be "Inappropriate vocabulary"? Any English-educated person knows theres a diff between 'inadequate' and 'inappropriate', let alone an English teacher. And I dare say that my vocabulary was definitely not lacking. If need so, I can even scan to you my script (if I can find it) to justify all this shit.Prelims: She apparently gave me a 17/30 for my situational writing (speech). Honestly, I've never gotten below a 20 for that in any exam. Maybe it really was cos my work wasn't up to standard. Maybe. But how come she wasn't able to accurately identify the reason for my low score? She wrote that I wasn't able to explain on why I did not choose the other two suggestions (in context of the question so I don't expect non-SAC sec4 to knwo what im talking about). But apparently, I did explain. Two whole paragraphs wasn't conspicuous enough for her, I suppose? And it all boils down to me doubting her capability as an English teacher. Simple things, really, like pronunciation. Which English teacher confuses her 'r's and 'l's and pronounces words like 'formal' as 'former'? Everything from her comments on marked scripts to everyday conversations shows no evidence of good, near-perfect English like English teachers ought to have. This teacher has never taught me in my entire ten years of education, so I don't have a reason for any personal feuds with her, and so, I'm just stating my honest feelings. Definitely not biased. If I wanted to flame her on my blog, I could've easily written down her name here.OMG, I typed so much over that. I get so easily carried away with things which I feel strongly for, I guess.Right..so Mdm Chan gave us our report slips and I didn't exactly do that bad, or that well, or improved that much. Pretty much predicted.Labels: schooly mooly
